Durante la pandemia la desinformación ha tomado lugar frente a las nuevas tecnologías, mucha gente al rededor del mundo ha creado grupos en redes sociales con el único objetivo de detener la adopción de tecnologías innovadoras. Dentro del sector de las telecomunicaciones la red 5G a sido de gran intriga en aspectos de su funcionamiento y lo que pasará con dicha tecnología.
Dentro de este blog, contestaremos algunas de esas preguntas sobre la nueva tecnología 5G.
¿Cómo funciona la red 5G?
La nueva red 5G funciona de manera similar a las comunicaciones que usamos en la actualidad con antenas y dispositivos terminales con radiobases, solo con la diferencia de poder contar con una conexión mucho más amplia de dispositivos y tipos de dispositivos, es decir, no es exclusiva para teléfonos celulares, si no también, para señalamientos de tránsito, automóviles autónomos, navegación naval y aérea, entre muchos otros.
• La transferencia de datos funciona mediante la Radio Frecuencia
• La red 5G requiere de 400 – 800 megahertz ancho de banda para funcionar. A mayor ancho de banda corresponde mejor velocidad de datos
¿La radiación 5G es mortal?
De acuerdo con la Comisión Federal para la Protección contra Riesgos Sanitarios (COFEPRIS) los campos de Radiofrecuencia no son capaz de producir radiación e ionización en el cuerpo humano, por lo que se han clasificado como radiaciones no ionizantes.
De acuerdo con La Comisión Internacional sobre Protección contra Radiaciones no Ionizantes (ICNIRP por sus siglas en inglés) “el campo electromagnético que producen los sistemas 5G no llegan a ser dañinas para la salud, porque no llegan a modificar el ADN o a causar daño celular”, en cambio, la red 5G está muy por debajo de la recomendación internacional y para poder causar un daño es necesario que se toque una antena de 5 a 8 horas diarias por varias semanas, pero ni siquiera los ingenieros que hacen sus trabajos de mantenimiento se exponen a eso.
¿Cómo se regula la radiación emitida?
La Comisión Internacional sobre Protección contra Radiaciones no Ionizantes (ICNIRP por sus siglas en inglés), es una organización no gubernamental. Es reconocida por la OMS y su función es fomentar la protección contra la radiación no ionizante (RNI) en beneficio de las personas y del medio ambiente, éste organismo también mide y controla las ondas que emiten aparatos de uso cotidiano como el wifi, bluethooth, televisión y radio.
¿Que pasará con la red 5G en México?
Javier Juárez Mojica del IFT dice que se estima que la cantidad de antenas que se va a requerir va a ser mucho mayor que la del 4G, pero eso tiene una explicación técnica:
“La conexión de más dispositivos, latencia menor y más velocidad se logra porque el 5G se diseña para que opere en bandas de frecuencias del espectro radioeléctrico bajas. Su cobertura espacial es menor, por eso se requieren más antenas cerca de los dispositivos”.
¿La red 5G reemplazará a la fibra óptica?
